Disillusioned with love when his mother's greed and selfishness resulted in his father's death, Jace Bayrum makes his living taking on dangerous assignments. Now, at the excavation site for the lost starship Lugh's Spear, Jace ends up trapped underground, and Second-Level Librarian Glyssa Licorice, his unacknowledged HeartMate, sends him her energy, even though he doesn't recognize their link. Then a chance to document the events at the dig sends Glyssa to the site, but getting Jace to realize they are HeartMates won't be easy. VERDICT Compelling, sensual, and intense, this latest addition to Owens's addictive series pairs a reluctant hero who doesn't believe in love with a heroine who knows what she wants. Story-weaving at its finest; another winner for the remarkably creative Owens (Enchanted No More). She lives in the Denver area.
