Romance, suspense, and the supernatural once again converge in Tyler’s enervating fifth SWAT paranormal (after To Love a Wolf). Werewolf Alex Trevino is part of the Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) of shape-shifting law enforcement officers in Dallas, Tex. A straightforward but exhausting mission to get a dangerous drug off the streets takes a turn for the better when Alex meets veterinarian Lacey Barton, who may be his soulmate. She’s reluctant at first but eventually agrees to date him, and everything is better than she ever expected until she tracks down a man she suspects to be part of a dogfighting operation, and he tries to kill her. Alex shifts shape to save her, and she’s horrified to learn that her boyfriend is a “monster.” When her sister goes missing, Lacey reluctantly goes to Alex for help, and they stumble across a scheme that involves drugs, kidnapping, and murder while trying to repair their broken relationship.
